It seems that Reid is finally growing a spine. BTW, I also noticed the House just passed a bill ending health insurance anti-trust exemption. It was voted for overwhelmingly by Dems and GOP members. That's darn good bipartisan support. Could it also be that the GOP is finally trying to do what is right for the country instead of being against everything the Dems propose?

It would be nice to believe that but I suspect the reality is more that party leaders, including of all people, Santorum, are telling their minions to tread carefully here. First, they are looking like horses asses for voting against the Stimulus now that the non partisan CBO is calling it a success.....and lets not forget all the Rs who voted against it only to take credit for it in their districts. Secondly, they are starting to look stupid on health care and definitely not populist......some Dems who have had spines right along are now pointedly speaking out.....watch A. Weiner in the vid clip:

thinkprogress.org

Thirdly, some popular, less radical Rs are speaking out on behalf of Obama.......Powell and Crist are two names that come to mind.

Fourthly, reconciliation is looking damn good to the Dems.

Finally, the Rs are worried about tomorrow's health care summit........they are fearful that big, bad Obama has sprung a trap......giving credence to the adage there are a number of ways to skin a cat. Wasn't it an R, Teddy Roosevelt, who said talk softly [and offer carrots] but carry a big stick/whip? Maybe Obama is showing us another way to get Dem unity while encouraging bipartisanship. ;-)
