Personally, I think his argument has a lot of validity, as far as it goes. Eventually almost everything will have "smarts" with embedded chips, and Intel hasn't done well in this market. I do think he overlooks the fact that this is something that can happen in addition to the PC market, not instead of it. When Merced is positioned to the regular PC market, it may be without the HP and x86 parts, which won't be needed because new software will be available. Also he forgets that the USA is only a small part of the world, and most of the rest of it is nowhere close to being computer saturated. The poor performance of Intel stock lately indicates the public buys the stories of slow growth. In the past INTC has had a stair step pattern, languishing for long periods, then suddenly shooting up to new highs. The recent correction has taken the excesses out of the stock,so if any real period of good news comes the stock price will respond well.
