And you know what? I'm getting sick of replacing my media ever few years.

That's another obstacle. Most people even with 1080p say that with a recent up convert DVD player they can't tell hardly any difference between blu-ray and standard DVDs.

I absolutely agree with that sentiment. However I think my BDs should last quite a long time both in resolution and the fact that the BD media is almost indestructible unlike DVDs due to the way the disks are manufactured and protected.
