Back when I still had my Panasonic 50" plasma HDTV, I bought a calibration disk and painstakingly went through the whole process. It was flat out amazing what a huge difference it made. Almost nobody calibrates their television sets, which is a shame. They're missing out.

Almost nobody has decent sound equipment, either.
