your comment bruce makes sense. it is possible that analysts think that buying a laser is not much different than buying an electric toaster of some other such item.

Cliff Kalista of the Pennsylvania Merchant Group voiced concern that one of Cymer's arch rivals was on the verge of introducing a competitive ultraviolet laser that would cost 40 percent less. I don't believe the 40%-less claim. Even if true, it would take many months (possibly years) to qualify the product, integrate it into the steppers/scanners, and ramp up to production numbers to meet scheduled deliveries. Meanwhile Cymer continues as sole source supplier. But it is pronouncements like Kalista's that make investors wary of the longevity of Cymer's near monopoly. I don't know any other reason for CYMI's weakness after a sterling quarter and upbeat conference call just reported. The ubiquitous reports of mass transitioning to 0.25 micron tools, meaning here come tools that employ exclusevily Cymer lasers, seem to be falling on deaf ears. Todays' SDUT reported acceleration of stepper deliveries that contain Cymer lasers apperently fell on deaf ears too. Blame the shorters? No way. Short interest is the spring to make a stock jump. Rather, I blame the ignorant investment community who can't correctly piece the story together. I couldn't resist. I bought more today. Tulvio
