I took an initial position in CVE the oil sands spin=off from encana. I believe the decline was mostly due to weakness in the canadian dollar relative to the us dollar, and i think that can turn around in a hurry. I expect that the spinoff undervaluation has not yet righted itself. Although in my heart of hearts i think both slw and gfre will outperform this purchase just cant bring myself to buy anymore of those two. gfre will announce earning on March 3. i believe.

re TOT - i thought about getting in again (after bailing after it rose a few points) but decided to add to my MRO position instead.

FWIW, E*Trade has an interesting research report about integrated oil (dated 12/13/09) with the title "Endurance". This report is really pushing CVX because of superior expected reserve growth. i think it has some nuggets of truth because it seems to me that CVX is catching up to XOM in terms of profitability metrics.
