Maybe the rationale was that with bad weather, companies would just lay people off, expecting the storms to last a lonnng time. The reality is that the economic storm is going to last a long time. I won't say Bernanke ought to be shot but I do think the politicians ought to call him on some of his stupid statements. Recall when he said the sub-prime situation was well contained, only to watch it come crashing down weeks later.
