neo, this makes perfect sense. dr. sears has been talking about this link for a few years now. parkinsons is most likely related to excess cellular inflammation (silent inflammation - below the threshold of pain) that damages tissue over time. eliminate the silent inflammation and one's risk of parkinsons (and alzheimer's, too!) drops dramatically. some may still get it for primarily genetic reasons, but that is likely a small fraction of total cases.

the zone diet was designed, from the ground up, to give you all the benefits of a balanced inflammation response (as opposed to the american norm of hyper inflammation - an anti- excess inflammatary diet, if you will) without the bad side effects (you really don't want to know how many people die from taking the prescribed dose of aspirin every year).

in fact, the side effects are all very positive - you feel better, you activate transcription factor proteins that elevate your energy level (mice with this gene turned on are 4x as active as mice with it turned off) and the excess fat just melts off.
