I think most people know the answer but hesitate to say it. The short-termers/shorties think they can do better than "excellent return". They want a Grand Slam. Trouble is, they may not see the fastball pitch they're looking for. The total return on investment can be considered the equivalent of the slugging percentage in baseball. The big sluggers prefer to swing for the fences even if they strike out a lot. Others prefer a high on-base percentage, with lots of singles, doubles and walks. That's what makes the game(s) interesting.
