FYI. Here's info on reconciliation statistics. So Reid is correct in saying that the GOP uses it most often to ram bills through when they are in power, but I'm thinking that on this specific issue, with the Dems having already lost the propaganda war, it would be a strategic blunder. Ramming it through only works when you are ahead in the propaganda war.

-----------------

By our count, eight of the reconciliation bills were initiated by a Democratic-controlled Congress. The rest, 14, were done by a Republican-controlled Congress.

So by that measure, Reid is on target.

"It's a legitimate argument," said Thomas Mann, a senior fellow in governance studies at the Brookings Institution. "And Reid is absolutely right. It has been used a lot, and more by Republicans than Democrats."

Great article, Ted. Pretty much captures everything I've felt being there, except for the overplayed "doom and gloom" that the media seems to be playing up.

Rochette clearly skated an inspirational performance, but I think Nagase was better.

By the way, I just watched short track speed skating last night. Canada did awesome. Korea fell short. Apolo Ohnoyoudidn't got his token bronze. The whole sport is controlled chaos, though, especially the relay, but it is exciting to watch. Like roller derby on ice.

P.S. - I got a wonderful picture of Ohno shaking hands with one of the Korean skaters. With all of the enmity between him and Korea, it's cool to see that.
