I think that some on the Left are cynical power grabbers. Most, probably, are vague thinkers who focus on the images of fairness, equality, and other such nice things. On the archetype of God's kingdom on earth, if you will.

They fail to grasp that this doesn't work. They refuse to be confused with facts and with historical experience. They think that in "better hands" those idealistic principles would "work".

But they wouldn't. Everyone cannot be the boss and be rich. Power inevitably concentrates in the hand of a ruling political gang.

Recently, I posted here a few lines from Dostoyevsky:

In one scene in Dostoevsky's "Devils" one of the socialistic theoreticians shares his research on the subject:

"I am perplexed by my own data and my conclusion is a direct contradiction of the original idea with which I start. Starting from unlimited freedom, I arrive at unlimited despotism"

He is right - such an eventual result is inevitable. I wish every Leftist would agree to give this some thought. But - won't happen.
