Interesting about how SI had the feature and forces you to follow others that can go under. It does make sense to store elsewhere to save $ but I thought SI was a good cash cow which is why Bob bought it back.

I have my blog with Google... figure it is too big and powerful to fail, but Yahoo! looked that way before they crashed and burned and now seem rudderless and worthless.

I make some decent money from "personal web pages" I put ads on long ago that was from several mergers... I think I started out at netcom... then it was mindspring then earthlink. At least they let me keep my "free web space" but it has a ton of limitations that I can't upgrade.... makes me think if the hardware it is on every crashes, it too could vanish.

My solution now is buy my own web sites and do my own content where I know it is safe then do the discussions on good places like this. Not much money in discussions anyway... we don't click ads, but they make money from occasional viewers coming to read what regular say and showing them ads or making them jump through hoops unless they pay SI Bob a fee.
