SEARCH - both on devices and the internet, definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

In the day of TB drives its getting more important. I think none of us get rid of any data do we? I would like to know if I'm alone hoarding every file because I don't have time to evaluate what I should trash.

Mac/Apple has fallen down on desktop search IMHO. It's something they could improve without too much problem when they have the time. The help function is also in need of help. Last I looked Widows sucked on both.

Google too has unimproved their search in many ways. I think Google is probably more vulnerable to competition in search than Apple is in hardware, except on maps.

I'm not too optimistic that search will improve in either area. Tying search to advertising tends to put the attention of the creators on advertising rather than search.

However I would not be surprised to see Jobs get big on this. If I am correct search was one of his obsessions, probably on the back burner at this point, but might mover forward in the future.
