John, I wonder what IBM knows about Java that Corel doesn't? To me Java still seems a little pre-mature for a full blown Suite until it improves. Wouldn't it be a better bet for IBM to develop their own Remagen Bridge and stick with their Windows based Smart Suite for now?

But as Dr. Cowpland said, "Corel can turn on a dime." I hope Management doesn't view IBM's move as a signal to use their last "dime" to go back into full Java Suite development . . . at least not yet.

Scott

During product demonstrations yesterday, the eSuite software running on network computers was only a little slower than standard desktop software running on a PC. But time will tell whether eSuite offers sufficient performance when used in a large business. The programs range in size from 500 to 700 kilobytes. That's small by the standards of today's business software. But eSuite programs will have to be constantly exchanged over corporate networks. When hundreds of workers must download software each time they perform a new task, the result could be a severe strain on network capacity.
