As for 2001, HAL is not quite here yet, in some ways Clockwork Orange is more applicable.

I remember thinking how far out Beethoven coming off a tiny cassette seemed at the time, but RAM and other solid state recording technologies make it seem quaint now.

Three sci-fi movies that impacted me big time, when they came out and I saw them on the really big screen. Soylent Green, Westworld (which ran as a double feature when I saw them) and Silent Running. The last, most of all.

Where the heck is my jetpack? Promised it to me fifty years ago! (g)
