Well this isn't an unfair question. About how good their socialized healthcare systems are - the jury is still out. I hear many different stories. For as long as a person is in good general health, ANY healthcare system is cheap and good.

One story I heard from a friend residing in Amsterdam. Some years ago his Mother in Law was found to have breast cancer. She was grossly misdiagnosed and mismanaged, was made wait forever for tests and treatments... After she died, the family was very unhappy with the treatment she received, but they had no recourse at all. They didn't even get an apology.

If you're interested, I posted yesterday a mini-opus on the subject on Mish's thread.

Boy you hit that nail on the head! When I talk to my European relatives and friends they can't believe how much we spend on healthcare and we still have people going bankrupt. That doesn't happen in the major European countries, even Japan and Taiwan.

The more we study the problem the more obvious our system is badly broken.
