Without putting words in Gene's mouth - I think the implication is that the LACK of bandwidth that currently exists would be a negative for the computer/periph industry if it is not adequately addressed. I am aware of ventures like @home, DSL, etc (I am excluding ISDN because I believe it to be a complete bust), but the market penetration is still piss poor.

The Net is great, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to stomach the delays at dial up speeds.

BTW, I am currently kicking myself in the can for NOT picking up AMAT at the depressed levels. I kept turning over your "margined at 46" story over in my head and failed to pull the trigger. :(

Your making me look bad selecting that slice from my post<G>.

I don't think anyone knows what "bigger pipes" will lead to, and that should be of concern to all tech investors.But I like your version better than Gilder's.

In any case, as we both said, it is not an immediate concern.
