Yes, the USA is vulnerable to a "big one". On another subject, we have news today of more belt-tightening: the U.S. Postal Service is once again seeking authorization to eliminate Saturday home mail delivery. Congress has blocked this before, but under the current dire circumstances I think it's more likely to pass now. USPS also wants to increase rates on newspapers and magazines, which will hasten the death spiral of hard copy media. We're in for an endless stream of USA restructuring, with the deaths of the SUV and Hummer being prime examples.
