hubris,

I currently have the standard majors like NEM, ABX, GG. One small junior position in NGD. I also like to let NEM go first, as often it will signal the top of a rally and I like to be detached from it to remain as objective as possible. GG is lagging a bit and maybe holding it for earning next week is not a good plan. NEM certainly delivered last week on the earning front.

What I tend to so is buy the majors first after a bottom and add juniors after the uptrend is established. Repeat, over and over for the past few years.

I'm still putting my basket of junior adds together.

Agree that there is plenty to be made fast on the short side, but timing is a serious concern. 2009 was not my best year for shorting in miners or the broad market, so I've elected to modify the strategy a bit this year and play long-cash, long-cash. I might change my mind if I see compelling evidence that a breakdown has legs. So far the short play has only paid on the short-term plays.
