I understand and accept your perspective and intended action. I might even say that I resemble that remark. As mentioned my opinion of MSFT and its ability to deliver software has changed.

Win7 and Security Essentials don't fit the usual pattern. They work! I haven't seen a BSOD or any other MSFT related glitch.

(Unless I can blame a conflict on Win 7 when I had 2 1TB Seagate FreeAgent Desk External hard drives connected at the same time. Intermittently, they wouldn't both go into Sleep mode with the PC. When I only have one connected there hasn't been an issue.)

To get SE, I had to have the system validated again anyway. Installing WAT isn't going to do me any harm and may be a last line of defence in detecting Malware.

While I permit automatic update, when optional items show up, extra caution is definitely warranted. And WAT is one of those.
