We became rich because we had abundant energy... in fact were a big exporter of energy.

That helped but it wasn't the primary reason.

Also our greater degree of freedom contributed to us having abundant energy, and to being "the bread basket".

Great infrastructure.... now that's freedom.

No they are both positive things that help economic growth but they are different things.

the rules allow greatness by creating a level playing field in which all can compete

The rules with a relatively minimal government would allow for that, the additional rules moving us to big intrusive government help move us away from that in addition to creating other problems.
