The following is my opinion:

If he doesn't get his way on this, expect to see a thoroughly POed Marxist -- and no amount of nicotine, alcohol or pain pills will make him able to hide it.

He hates this country. He feels that this health care fiasco is the shortest and most effective way to set it on a course that it can never recover from. For him, this will be "mission accomplished" if he can jam it through.
