San Francisco restaurants are now adding a "health charge" to the bill:

chicagotribune.com

I like this part of the article:

> The rationale for this one is to cover the employers' mandatory contribution to the City's "Healthy San Francisco" health-coverage system. The charge actually is levied on employers, but at least some restaurants are adding a few dollars or percentage points to each customer's bill to cover this charge.

I wonder how many people are fooled into believing there is a disconnect between employer costs and what is charged to the consumer.

You know when you have an exciting, beautiful city in an equally beautiful setting with near perfect weather, you can do just about anything outrageous and get away with it. It never ceases to amaze me how expensive SFO gets and still manages to prosper.
