This is a non rhetorical answer...

I know how the approach works. The question is about why you, as distinguished from others, are in a position to take that approach.

the able-bodied part throws me off. Maybe you can rephrase.
Why can't we all do what you do? What is it about you that makes you willing and able to "afford the risk" as opposed to others who aren't?

The "able-bodied" part was in recognition that there are people in the country who can't take care of themselves, if you're born brain damaged, for example. So "all" doesn't mean every single person. It means everyone who isn't handicapped to the point where he can't be expected to take care of himself.

I wasn't trying to get personal. That's why I added the bit about the rhetorical question. But some people are willing and able and others not. I'm trying to isolate the difference to see if there is any way of them joining the ranks of the willing and able, to see if the problem could be solved that way.
