I thought I'd never say this, but I long for the days of Clinton. The Bush Jr years were dreadful and the GOP hysteria drowning out any sane discourse nowadays is equally dreadful.

Well, sure, but Clinton had much better options and governed largely through a period of unprecedented economic expansion...he never faced the melt down Obama is unfortunately having to deal with, during which he experiences a melt down of the housing market, which helps trigger a financial catastrophe, sharp declines in tax revenues, rapid emergence of China and India as economic powerhouses with their seemingly endless pools of cheap labor, and, by consequence, the worst downturn in the economy since the depression.

Yeah then no "real" wars, balanced budgets, great tech advances, prosperity, huge job growth...

Now? Not so much fun to be an American.
