I know. To start one, you'd need a super candidate. Independents are too diverse to really martial as a common group. So there doesn't seem to be a real alternative 3rd party constituency that is large enough to become viable as a voting block.

What's funny is that this exact problem we're having with our two party system was solved long ago with a Parliamentary structure. That structure also has its negatives, but it forces consensus building and helps eliminate gridlock or entrenchment of single parties. Ultimately, it's much more inclusive.
