It would be only if the question was "Did Christianity end slavery all by itself"? If that's the question than its an obvious no, but that wasn't the question.

Why did the pagan Greeks and Romans allow slavery? And infanticide? And the murder of humans in stadiums for public amusement? They were civilized weren't they?
