And that's any worse than "teabagger"?

I suggest its not as bad, since it isn't being used to describe people, but rather used as an example of the type of promise that should be believed. It wasn't made up by Cannon, or by Cato, or by any anti-Obama movement, its a long standing example used for such analogies, not as common as "the check's in the mail", but that was also used.

If its too vulgar for your tender sensibilities (which I doubt), I suggest you also discount, ignore, or rant at, anyone who uses "teabagger".

Also if it is too vulgar for you, it still doesn't provide a good reason to discount, ignore, or rant at conservative and/or libertarian sources in general, or even just Cato. Cato, the National Review, and quite a few other sources are rarely vulgar, at least not in their web sites, magazines or studies (maybe in tweats, but then I hardly expect you to subscribe to their Twitter feeds).

There's nothing in that tweet that should even cause Cannon to lose credibility, let alone thousands of different sources, many of which are totally unrelated to him.
