The intent of those who hate democracy is to rewrite the bill and use a Parliamentary trick designed to allow budget reductions to pass without having to overcome cloture.

Peter, don't get distracted by reconciliation. Once the House passes the Senate bill, Obama has his legislation. The chance that Pelosi will hold the bill and not send it to the White House if reconciliation fails or an abortion language fix for Stupak et. al. fails, is exactly zero. She'll say "Oops, we tried" then send the Senate bill to Obama for the signing ceremony. That's why Obama told the Progressive Caucus today, "this bill is just a foundation." He knows they're not getting what they want, but figures once the main power grab happens, the rest is a matter of time.
