Many large utilities are moving to natural gas. Plus the ARPA-E is working on coal sequestration techniques, thanks to Obama's heavy investment in clean energy R&D. There are also VCs in Silicon Valley, including Vinod Khosla, that have invested a substantial amount of money in carbon capture and reuse technologies.

Progress on energy independence is moving forward to implement green technologies for a profit, while finding out ways to mitigate the damage to our environment from existing fossil fuels.

That's your problem, Brumar. You present us with a false choice: continue burning fossil fuels or move to clean energy that will ruin our economy. It's a false choice because we can diversify our portfolio to include clean energy, while developing technology to continue to use fossil fuels more responsibly, and all the while making boatloads of money from doing it. This is what our technology companies do best. We just need to unleash their potential by setting a national agenda and rules of the road around it.

Instead of your hysterical claims that "the world will end if we invest in clean energy", why don't you get open minded and embrace the all of the above approach that more pragmatic people are embracing.
