"That sort of wild assertion puts you squarely in line with those on the farthest fringe of extreme atheism"

You know very well it does not. You know that realization of those primitive myths is why many devout Christians came to denounce Christianity. You know that, (while there can be some legitimate controversy over whether or not a preacher "Jesus" lived as a sort of mythic template for the fabrications and stories that swirled through the religions and superstitions of the early first millennium)--there is no controversy (other than for religious fanatics) as to whether or not the gospel stories shine a truthful light on those fanciful times.

Even thought the church kept only a small percentage of the gospels, they are still completely unable to cover up the contradictions, the nonsense, the transparent fabrications, and the absence of historical merit. Her apologists write millions of volumes of convoluted hermetics in a feckless attempt to make mumbling articulate and snakes to walk--but it is all to no avail.

Most of the human race remains superstitious and unable to separate superstition from the clear boundaries of reason...but in a hundred years all this superstitious nonsense will be left in the land of unicorns, fables, demons, nymphs, talking donkeys, and incoherent preachers. And the thousands of religions will possibly have merged into one group of maniacal misfits hiding in some vast northern forest like some tribe of Sasquatch waiting for the reality of intellect and knowledge to go away to other planets so that they may return onto the cities and enjoy the childish bliss of unfettered imagination engulfed in eternal ignorance.
