I saw a clip of that and enjoyed it. Candy might be a welcome change for Sunday morning.

And true on what people get on unemployment. If they didn't make much or have much before, perhaps it is a 'boon', but people who were higher up the wage scale and have houses and children and etc to worry about that check is hardly a boon to allow them to sit around in their jammies, watching soaps.

a book you might be interested in is Nickel and Dimed: Undercover in Low-wage America.

A woman who'd grown up well and made good money as an adult went off to various towns, for a year I think, working waitress and cleaning jobs and seeing what it was like to live on minimum wage. and this was single sans children.
