The declining Roman empire used Christianity by politicizing it into Catholicism and inventing lots of nifty little sins and taxes all having little or nothing to do with Christianity outside of the symbolism of Christ on the cross.

Those protesting Rome called themselves Protestants and borrowed and invented as they saw fit. Both used fear and guilt as tools of persuasion and were happy for getting the influence of the state whenever they could such as the Spanish inquisition.

A Christian or Christ would be angry with both Catholics and Protestants.

You can't even affirm the first line of the Apostles Creed never mind the rest of it. Why do you even bother calling yourself a Christian: really? Pretty basic stuff.
