"Data asked this question once in Star Trek: The Next Generation."

So?

"I'd say life is anything with a soul, an identity, an entity that we can converse and interact with."

Ok. So some things can be alive, but not be 'life'. Or are you saying that bacteria, plants, fungi, etc. have souls, identity and we can converse with them?

"I'd say life is anything with a soul, an identity, an entity that we can converse and interact with."

Today, I conversed and interacted with an automated phone system that successfully upgraded my satellite TV package so I can watch the new season of "Breaking Bad", coming later this month.

I doubt it had a soul, but I'm not sure I do either. If I've got one, I'm sure my cat does too.
