Don't think orange would have helped late on a Friday night against someone with night vision and probably a few adult beverages...

The story says the hunters were using night scopes, which might not be unusual for coyote hunting. There's no excuse for mistaking a human being for game.

When I worked in the woods, we were never instructed to wear orange vests during hunting season, and I never did. Hunters are required by law in some states to do that, and I comply when it is required. It's been a long time since I've hunted, though.

The only other case I know of involved an employee who was simply murdered while he was filling his canteen in the river. It was so long ago I have forgotten the details, but whatever it was, it was unforgivable.
