That's one way to look at it. However, if you think back to Bush's push for the Medicare Prescription Drug plan, it was a similar scenario. It was very unpopular because of the anticipated costs, but then after it passed, it became very popular. Americans love success, especially when it results in more entitlements for them...deficits and debt be damned.

The political strategy is clear. The Dems should pass that bill to ensure their survival. The GOP should continue to block every attempt to pass it to ensure they make gains in Nov. At this point, it has nothing to do with helping the American people. We're just watching two parties battle it out to see who will be in power after Nov elections.

It's kind of disgusting to watch, if you ask me.
