NEWBRIDGE NETWORKS CORP (Indicated down 8 to 49 at 9:30 ET) said preliminary estimates of financial results for the 2Q of fiscal 1998, ended November 2, 1997. Revenue for the 2Q is expected to be approximately equal to revenue of $435 million for the 1Q of fiscal 1998, which is more than 35% greater than revenue of $316 million for the 2Q of fiscal 1997. Earnings per share for the quarter are expected to be within 10% to 15% of the 1Q fiscal 1998 earnings per share. Analysts' 2Q mean estimates were $0.31, according to First Call.
