Qualcomm is not selling to Apple. <I'd rather see QCOM selling to a company like AAPL than competing against it. >

Hopefully Apple pays royalties, but maybe they are refusing that minor detail too. They are taking a case against Nokia for extorquerationate pricing for intellectual property - saying it's not FRANDly.

The Thin Phone was good and the pdQ went on to be developed by Kyocera into a good device too.

Qualcomm could have stuck to their guns, told the GSM Guild to invent their own technology [without Qualcomm patents], and developed an integrated mobile cyberspace industry based on CDMA2000 and evolution from that to OFDM.

We could already be leading the world with Mirasol, Snapdragon, Android, integrated into one great little Anita [tm] device.

Instead, we are waiting around for somebody else to get around to it.

It's like waiting around for Vodafone, Verizon and other Globalstar service providers to do something useful with Globalstar. They did almost nothing and sank the business to bankruptcy.

Qualcomm could have sat around and waited for Intel or others to develop the CDMA asics too, but fortunately Qualcomm had people with the brains and energy to take on the challenge and develop an asics business. Look at that business now - world champions. Fortunately that wasn't abandoned too.

LML - Q has no PR whatsoever. They could not sell anything to the public. The average person does not even know the name Qualcomm. Public Relations is Q's Achilles' heel.
