Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I voted for Obama based on his ideas about oil independence and renewable energy. He had the best ideas and understood the links between our oil dependence and all the detrimental things it does, which I've spoken at length about in previous posts. I suspect most people aren't as dumb as you think they are, although, the press is a very effective propaganda machine for both parties and it reduce every issue to digestible sound bites that bear little relation to the truth.
