I guess that must be the reason that Canada has a shortage of doctors and most Canadian's come to the U.S. for their surgeries.

No it hasn't worked so well.

They have longer wait times, shorter lives (when you adjust for accident and homicide rates), and a less responsive health care system (even the WHO study which seems designed to make the US score poorly, rates the US as number one in responsiveness).

They also free ride off of American consumers funding health care innovations. That works because they have the US consumer, with a government that doesn't force down drug prices, to pay for the innovations, but it wouldn't work so well if we went the same direction. There is no other large rich country for us to rely on once we socialize.
