Are you telling us not to innovate Hardly, innovation is very important. Innovation beyond basic research that comes from large non-cost effective federal government projects for non-public goods, no so much. and stop our dependency on oil There is no dependency on oil. There is the use of oil because that's what is cost effective. When it stops being as cost effective relative to other sources it will be used less and less. because it will cause job losses in the oil industry Because (but not just because) it will cause a net job loss for the country, as well as net lower production, lower income, and lower wealth. with that attitude we would still be driving around wooden carts with stone wheels. Only if they where more efficient and cost effective than the alternatives, which of course they are not.
