That is accurate, but one unsung function our government plays is that they invest in long range projects that are considered high risk high reward. Examples? Space exploration, fusion power, renewable energy. Sometimes they even pan out like the Internet did and countless products for the military that eventually got commercialized. In addition, when the government listens to business leaders who are asking for help, we get even better government regulations that help businesses succeed against foreign competitors and we get more competition within our own industries that encourages innovation, rising benefits, and decreasing costs. It happens so often in this country. It's all around you, if you open your eyes to see.
