In any case, I agree with you that the schedules are holding steady. But it looks like the number of troops that will actually be withdrawn will be far less than the campaign rhetoric hinted at, since 35K to 50K troops will remain for "training and counterterrorism" purposes.

He never said he would withdraw done to zero.....immediately. What he said was this:

"Obama said, "As soon as I take office, I will call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff, we will initiate a phased withdrawal, we will be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in. We will give ample time for them to stand up, to negotiate the kinds of agreements that will arrive at the political accommodations that are needed."

You know what happened in Vietnam when we pulled out of there. It was a bloodbath. That's our legacy. Obama is determined not to repeat it.

And let me add.....you know how much I hated the war in Iraq. I would want nothing more than to pull out asap.....esp. after the way the Iraqis have treated us. But I know the smart way is the way Obama is doing it....and that's why I am not griping.

The withdrawal to a large extent is cosmetics only compared to the radical solution promoted by Obama prior to winning the elections.
