Not from just those things. Great Depression II, just wasn't in the cards, at least not without the type of government mistakes that happened before or during I, such as a large increase in tariffs, tax increases, tight money, and a strong increase in government regulation and intervention in the economy. Obama did talk about weaker version of some of those things, but has not yet been as foolish in terms of handling the economy as Hoover and FDR where.

It's a good thing President Obama isn't in the private sector. If he was, the budget he just put forward for the next 10 years just might get him indicted for fraud.

Of all the promises the president made during the 2008 presidential campaign and last year's budget debates, none rings so hollow now as the pledge of "fiscal responsibility."
