Ali,
reconciliation has always been an option. The filibuster is an annoyance, to be sure, but reconciliation trumps that. It's just that the Dems get all guilt ridden about it. Screw the guilt and stop blaming the GOP for the Dems troubles. That's playing the victim. These guys need to get a spine and just get the job done, ruthlessly if need be.

Americans respect strength. That's why the Dems are slipping in the polls. They are looking weak and that turns Americans off. Pass the damn thing and be done with it.

Obama finally got the message. He said the time for talk was over, and he's damn sure correct about that. I just wish he'd have figured that out 6 months ago before the Dems had lost the propaganda war. But late is better than never and it seems he's turned the tide enough to get the Dems enough room to get the thing passed. The rest is up to Pelosi and Reid.
