I infer from PJ's comments the company has got the message that it needs to begin to market itself to the consumer, establish in their mind some level of brand awareness. The message QCOM might wish to establish with the consumer is that if the device is built with QCOM technology, it is built with superior technology (v. competing technogolies).

I think that's a great idea.

The real question is do they think they can do it or do they need help? I have no confidence that the current executive team can accomplish this properly; even assuming they hire some outside help.

They have proven time and again that they just don't know how to reach the public the way they want (consistently & over time) -- consumer OR investor. Hopefully that changes, they get some humility and shake their Engineers' Disease fever dream.

Just another way to parasitize earnings. To accomplish what? To sell what? Chipsets? Nice for back pats, but unnecessary -- chipsets get sold to device sellers and passed through to savvy consumers on merit. Displays too.

Meanwhile there's no evidence that Qualcomm can all of a sudden begin to create superior devices. On the contrary. Don't get them started.
