That is such bullshit.

In 1976, when the permanent fund was enacted, the house of representatives was controlled by liberal democrats. It was the liberal democrats led by the liberal Republican Jay Hammond and his sidekick the liberal democrat Fran Ulmer (superwoman we called her) who did it all, fighting the Republicans every step of the way. Blood in the streets type fight. Like having to give the oil companies tax breaks to ge the Republicans to vote for it.

It is a matter of record.

The Republican's fought the permanent fund every step of the way (because they do not like big government programs) and they have always been in bed with the oil companies who thought the permanent fund would make their taxes go up. We do tax oil companies more than most states.

We had to give the Republican's an ELF tax exemption for the oil companies to get them to vote for it. The dems got that changed by one vote right after the Valdez oil spill when sentiment was running against the oil companies. We had to fight the Republican's though to get that oil tax reenacted.

In the last few years 10 to 12 Republicans have been indicted and some convicted for bribary from the oil companies. But not one dem. They have videos of the convicted legislators taking money out of a fish bowl in the Baranoff.

Recently, 20 legislators took over $10,000 in oil money campaign contributions, 19 Republicans and one dem. Dems know oil companies wil try to own legislators to keep taxes as low as possible.

You just ignore all facts. The liberal dems controlled the house-got it? YOu cannot credit Republcians who did not control the legislature. I knew almost all of the people who fought for the permanent fund. Other than Jay Hammond (who lived in Naknek, was a poet and married to an Eskimo woman), there were no Republican's fighting for the permanent fund.

>>Koan, it's just like a liberal to take credit for the successes of a conservative state with conservative values.

It's no different from liberals blaming conservatives for the failures of a liberal state with liberal values, namely California.
