Denmark is the leader in the world in installing countrywide electrification. I do not know what happened in the past, but the tax right now is to incentivize people to buy electric cars.

And when oil gets to $200 a barrel the Danes will ahve the last laugh.

And not being a nice person fits right in with the Republican party, which is not only not nice, but filled with very stupid people.

Good post. I noticed Koan ignored everything you said and basically repeated his argument.

How would you explain the successes (and failures) of Denmark with respect to its socialism? Think America can learn from Denmark, or will Danish policies never work here (probably because of our demographics)?

So called 'temporary' taxes introduced by liberals eventually always become permanent.

You said it!

Our payroll withholding of income taxes started out during WWII as a temporary emergency wartime measure. If we had to write a check for our income taxes each year, it would be politically harder to raise them .... but when they take your money away from you before you even see it, people don't realize whats happening.

Another selling point is telling the people, this will only be borne by the "rich" ... our income tax started out affecting only a small percentage .... the alternative minium tax was only going to keep millionaires from avoiding income taxes when it started too - now it hits a lot of middle class folks.
