Yes, but things are oversimplified quite a bit by all
camps. We are dealing with a very complex global system,
and in part external factors are to blame, such as
opening of cheap labor countries to market economy.
This pretty much necessarily leads to a declining
standard of living in the Western world, IMHO.

If it is much cheaper to make a widget in China, because
a Chinese will work for a bowl of rice, the capital will
flow there cause it's profitable. Little can be done to
block this dynamics. Yes, Ben attemted to devalue the dollar,
so the huge trade gap would shrink, but that effort led
nowhere.
