This would be a significant saving for employers as they eliminate the need for extra staff and a department for larger companies that do nothing but handle claims for the employees------they are the middle man between the employee and the Insurance Company.

The money that is used by the employer to pay for the employees health insurance could simply be given to the employee as salary for the employee to decide what insurance company to use------what is best for their personal needs.

I happen to know about this from the viewpoint of our family's experience with one of the computer firms that was early in the process of establishing just such a system.

A lot of paperwork and monitoring was required by the company and by the employee that could have been eliminated----saving everyone time and money.

Good Idea------!

"Eliminate the link between the employer, Health insurance and the employee... that immediately solves the issue of your health insurance moving with you when you change or lose your job and premiums should go down."
